Language is the key to the heart of a culture
At Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Sabha, we believe that teaching our children Punjabi is more than just an educational goal—it is a moral responsibility. It is with this sense of purpose that we invite you and your children to join our Punjabi Language Classes.
The classes
We have designed these classes to be a welcoming space where learning is a joyful experience. We aim to move beyond simple memorisation, focusing instead on building a genuine love for the language through:
- Interactive learning: Using creative tasks, storytelling, and cultural activities to make every lesson engaging and memorable.
- A path for everyone: Whether your child is an absolute beginner or looking to improve their existing fluency, we provide levels that cater to every student’s individual pace.
The moral value of our language
Why is it so vital for our youth to learn Punjabi?
- Honoring our elders: Proficiency in Punjabi allows our children to sit with their grandparents, listen to their life stories, and absorb the wisdom that can only be shared in one’s mother tongue.
- Connecting with gurbani: To truly understand the depth of the teachings within the Gurdwara, a foundation in the language is essential. It allows our youth to engage with our faith on a personal level.
- Building Identity: In a fast-changing world, knowing where you come from provides a sense of belonging and strength. By learning Punjabi, our children join a global family of 125 million speakers.
How to join our classes
We invite all families to take this step with us. No prior experience is needed—only a willing heart and a desire to learn. These classes happen every Saturday at 10-12pm.
