Let’s come together as a community to honor their courage, faith, and ultimate sacrifice.
As we get into the final weeks of December, it’s a very significant time for the community. While many are getting ready for the holidays, these days are also a time to look back at the incredible bravery of the Chaar Sahibzaade—the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
To honor their memory, we are hosting a screening of the film Chaar Sahibzaade at the Sri Guru Ravidass Ji Sabha on Saturday, 27 December 2025.
Why their story still matters
If you aren’t familiar with the history, it’s truly one of the most moving stories you’ll ever hear. It’s about four young brothers—Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh—who showed immense courage during this difficult time.
The two oldest brothers fought bravely in battle, while the two youngest (who were only 7 and 9 years old) stood their ground against an empire, choosing their faith and principles over their lives.
We also remember the Chali Mukte (the 40 Liberated Ones). Their story is a powerful reminder that no matter how many mistakes we make, we can always choose to do the right thing and stand up for justice in the end.
A community event for all ages
We really want to encourage families to come along. It’s so important that our children understand these values—standing up for what’s right, being brave, and staying true to yourself.
The highlights:
- Our students: To start the event, the kids from our Guru Ravidass Ji Sabha Punjabi Class will be reciting the names of the Sahibzaade. It’s a great way for them to show what they’ve been learning and to pay their respects.
- The Film: Chaar Sahibzaade is a powerful, emotional movie that really brings this history to life.
- Unity: It’s a chance for us to gather at the Gurdwara, reflect together, and keep these important stories alive.
